Craig grew up in York and first started playing the Euphonium at The Ebor Brass Band under the guidance of Brian Henderson at the age of 15. Craig, inspired by his tuition, took to brass playing so much that he went on to achieve a 2:1 Honours Music (BMus) Degree from the University of Hull and a Masters Degree in Music Performance from the University of York, and a PGCE in Music Education from York St John University.
Since graduating Craig has travelled the world as a professional trombone player on board Royal Caribbean International Cruise Ships, worked as a freelance performance and teacher, and is now a secondary music teacher here in York.
The Youth Band has fulfilled Craig’s longstanding desire to conduct and since it’s establishment in September 2011, the band has continued to grow. The ever increasing size and standard of the band means he definitely has his work cut out for him!
